October is here! This is definitely one of my favorite months of the year. The temperature is dropping, football season is in full swing, and flea markets and yard sales can be found every weekend. Yep, October is pretty great.
Also, I will be selling my vintage goodies at TWO fabulous markets this month! Junk Restore & Findings. Make sure to mark your calendars!

Here's how I'm doing on my goals...
I have been eating like a cave woman for a full week now and I feel fabulous! Matt and I started following the Paleo plan last Monday. This means no grains, no dairy, and no processed foods. We eat grass-fed lean meat, wild caught seafood, organic fruits and veggies, some nuts, fresh herbs & seasonings, a bit of olive oil, and a bit of sea salt. I can honestly say I feel better than I ever have before. I've been meaning to eliminate dairy and gluten to test for intolerances for awhile now. I'm glad I just went cold turkey and got rid of it all.
My body went through hell on days 4 and 5. I had what they call "low-carb flu." Basically my body was detoxing and getting rid of all the crap in my system and transitioning from burning carbs and sugars to burning fat. I was sick to my stomach and had horrible headaches. I powered through. I have lost 5 pounds and am on my way to this goal now.
Does this mean I'm never going to have a cookie again? No. Matt and I are committing to eat Paleo about 90% of the time. I had a glass of red wine on Saturday night and a couple dates wrapped in prosciutto yesterday - yum! We went out on Saturday night and were surrounded by greasy food, popcorn, and tons of yummy sugary adult beverages and it didn't even phase me. I think once you power through the first week, the cravings go away.
I'm excited to share my Paleo progress with you in the upcoming months. I know the holidays will be a challenge. I think with the proper planning we can get through though. I already found a recipe for a yummy Paleo treat that we can munch on Halloween night instead of candy.

1. Get back to my pre-sickness weight

2. Learn to knit
SAME: Completely lost interest.
3. Re-learn how to sew
SAME: Asking for a sewing machine for Christmas. Then I'll have a week to learn to make this goal...ha!
4. Read 60 Books
I'm almost to 50. I just thrifted a bunch of books that were on my to-read list and I'm ready to power through those.
5. Get dressed.
SAME: Yep! And hair, makeup, nails...feels good.
6. Go to the Grand Canyon
Who knew it would be so difficult to get there this year? Ugh.
7. Finish decorating my home
I've accomplished more than I thought I would this year and have so many projects still on the to-do list. I'm taking my time and having fun with it!
8. Take a photography class.
I did it! Read my review of the class I took from Bella Pop HERE.
9. Hit 200 Etsy sales
I'm at 192 for both shops. I'm pretty sure I'll knock this one out ;)
10. Cook Dinner
Paleo breakfast, lunches, and dinners!
11. Do at least 3 tutorials a month on the blog
Getting better but not doing 3 :(
12. Go Green & Garden
Herbs & succulents are a go. We set up a new recycling system and we are now producing equal amounts trash and recycling. My hope is to get to where we recycle about 3/4 and trash 1/4. I REALLY want to try composting but Matt is not on board...yet.
