Google+ Blows // A Cautionary Tale
I've been avoiding Google+. I only know about 30 people have profiles, and they don't even use it regularly. But this morning I decided I better hook my blog up and spruce up my profile a bit just in case is suddenly takes off.
BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!
I was cleaning up my profile and there were a lot of ugly photo albums. Random images from various blog and social media posts with no organization, rhyme, reason. I deleted the albums. There were only about 50 images total. I continued to pretty up my profile and left the site after about 15 minutes feeling like a social media rock star.
I hopped on blogger to put up today's post. Ummmm...WTF! All of my images were gone - see above. I went and checked on another computer and yep, they were gone. After scrolling through a bit I realized it was all the images that were uploaded from my computer. So, if I had copied and pasted it, it was still there, but everything else, gone. Almost 3 years of blog post images. Gone.
My husband immediately started researching while I sat taking deep breaths, trying not to completely lose it. "Babe, I am so sorry to tell you this, but they are gone for good." DEEP BREATHS.
So this is my warning to you: Do not delete any of your Picasa albums in Google+ and back up your blog regularly! I backed mine up so long ago that it's going to be easier for me to just replace the images.
This blog post has the most detailed information on the problem.
So if you need me, I'll be here, uploading images to past posts, my pages, shop my closet, etc.
Google, you are on my list!
