Bookworm 7.31

I've been blowing through a ton of great (and some not so great) books this year. My goal is 60 and I'm on #39. Here are a few of my favorites. You can read some other reviews here.

If you like Valley of the Dolls,  you'll probably love this too. The Best of Everythingwas written in 1958 and is based on real experiences of working girls in New York. It's very glamorous, gritty, and real. And hey, even Don likes it :)

Historical fiction is by far my favorite genre. The Chaperone is a great story of two women and their experiences from the 1920's to the 1960's and is rich with historical references & facts. I love learning, and I love history, but non-fiction is a drag so this was perfect.

The Handmaid's Tale

At the end of my last post I was reading The Handmaid's Tale and I promised you a review. I thought it was amazing! I you love dystopian novels, I highly recommend this one.

Gone Girl is a beautifully written, suspense novel. Think James Patterson without the cringe worthy, cheesy writing...sorry, James! It's brand new so kind of expensive, I recommend getting on your library's wait list for it.

What should I read next?

Have you read any of these? What did you think?
