links & love

Cheers to the weekend! Grab some java or a glass of wine and share some inspiration with me, won't you?

web bites

I'm loving this house tour. Where does one get a planter with a face on it?

Something I've started that makes me feel great!

Oh, the things I want to spell with these!

I want a white kitchen, and white bedding, and white planters, and, and, AND!

The cutest way to organize thread for needlework projects.

What a lovely way to brighten your home.

The prettiest thrift score.

Re-read the book, now for the movie!

Husbands who bring home Pita Jungle for dinner. I can almost taste it.

It's the last week of school! T-minus 6 days until Memorial Day weekend at the cabin!

my number one job

I woke up this morning feeling on top of the world. It was one of those days when my to-do list was a mile long, but in a good way. I was going to ship orders, plan shop vignettes, hunt for vintage, and do a million other fun, busy, exciting things. As I was pulling on the freeway to run my first errand my phone rang. It was the school nurse. Dun, dun, dun...

I was angry and frustrated for a second. Not only was my poor kiddo sick with what was most likely strep throat, but I was going to fall behind on my very packed schedule of to-dos. I took a deep breath, put it all into perspective, and realized...I am so grateful.

My number one job is being a mom. Owning a small business, and the hard work that my husband does to make it possible for me to do so, makes my job as mom a lot easier.

A few years ago I was teaching full time and B getting sick meant making a fort and sleeping under my desk in my classroom. Matt and I would have to scramble to find someone to help us get her to the doctor or he would have to leave work. It was so hard for me to have to stay at work and take care of other people's kiddos and hand my baby off to grandma.

Today I had my baby in my arms and her tears stopped within five minutes of that phone call from the nurse. I had her to urgent care, medicated, and home in bed within an hour. I sent a few emails and rearranged some things on my calendar. Everything else can wait. My number one job is being a mom. Having this blog and my business make that possible and I am so very grateful.

oh, yellow!

I'm working on a top secret project for later this summer and it involves the color yellow. Not a pale buttercup, not a retro mustard, but BRIGHT sunshine yellow. I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to work with this color so I hit Pinterest last night. I discovered that yellow (even the blinding bright kind) can be oh, so good...

So what do you think? Can you handle this kind of a statement in your home?
